In September, our members brought in a number of items for the various projects we are currently undertaking.
Here are a couple of pictures of items from Yvonne.
On the left are some templates and completed bonding hearts that have been urgently requested from the Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU) at Darenth Hospital. Made in pairs, the idea is that one is kept by the mother, and worn next to her skin, and the other is left with the baby. They are then regularly swapped over so that the baby can continue to bond and gain comfort from mum whilst undergoing medical care in the SCBU.
On the right are two examples of drain bags for post operative adults, which has been requested by Madlani Cancer Support. Yvonne will share the pattern for those members that would like to get involved.
Here are 4 examples of memory quilts that have been made by various members. They are A4 in size, white and quilted with white or cream thread. These have been created for the parents whose babies are stillborn and they are taken home as a treasured memory,
Diane brought in the two lovely fidget quilts as part of an ongoing donation to the PRUH. Such quilts are given to dementia patients to keep them calm and occupied whilst recovering from various surgical procedures.
Chris showed this yet-to-be-completed Block of the Month quilt. As a personal challenge, Chris created this quilt from a Jenny Kingwell design. As you can see, it involves 16 detailed blocks.
Christine brought in what she calls an orphan quilt. It was originally started by our previous joint chair Yvonne Seymour, where she started to assemble together individual blocks made by other quilting ladies. As is often found in such a joint enterprise, not all blocks fitted together well so Yvonne put it to one side. Christine picked up the mantle and finally finished the quilt.

For our August meeting, the following pieces were shown.
Carol brought along this quilt that was made by Rose, one of our longest standing members, who sadly passed away recently. Rose's family has kindly donated it to Project Linus.
The above pictures are of the front, reverse and narrative of a quilt shown by Norma that was created by Rosemary Blackburn. It was made from shirtings as part of a Quercus Quilters' challenge. After Rosemary died, a sale of her quilts was held and Norma bought this one to remind her of her friend.
Yvonne has been busy again creating more fidget quilts for donation to the dementia patients at the PRUH. The two pictures on the right show the front and reverse of one where an orphan block was incorporated to create an interesting backing.
Christine made this lovely quilt from her scraps. She donated it to Project Linus.
Diane showed this beautiful quilt. The blocks came from a Moda sew along a few years ago, the top was pieced together a few months ago and she finally got round to quilting it this week, The binding still needs to be finished before it is gifted next week.

Below are several incubator quilts made by the group and their quilting friends...........
These 4 lovely quilts were created by other quilters at a "Duck Day" quilting session at Puddleducks. The wadding, backing and Velcro were provided by Norma and Chris

These 3 quilts were made by Chris, with fabric donated from Wendy.
In addition to all of the above, a number of clever fidget quilts were also presented.
By Michelle (love the use of the shirt cuff!)
Christine had been very busy and created these 2 great quilts.
Sue designed and created this fidget quilt for a man.
Chris took a break from all the Linus and incubator quilts and created these 2 wonderful pieces.
At the May meeting, members brought in more lovely pieces that they have been working on, some for themselves and some for the various charities that we support.
This is a work-in-progress Linus quilt that Chris put together, made out of donated fabrics, and it is being finished off by Norma.
Recently Norma and Chris took more than 20 Linus quilts and incubator quilts to Kings College Hospital which were very gratefully received.
Jenny has also been very busy,
On the left are some heart cushions for post-operative breast cancer patients that will be passed on via Beckenham Quilters.
And on the right is a beautiful hanging from a Janet Clare kit.
As a group, we have recently adopted a project to make fidget quilts for dementia patients at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and it is fair to say that our members have responded brilliantly. The pictures above show a selection of those brought in this month and they have been very imaginatively put together. Seventeen of these quilts have now been donated and the hospital is delighted with them. A huge thank you to Mary, Diane, Christine, Karen, Anna and Sue for this month's contributions.
Left and centre are close-up pictures of a gent's and a lady's fidget quilt by Christine. On the right is a Linus quilt, also by Christine.
Bryony showed this lovely quilt, which she named "Pick Up Sticks"
This beautiful work-in-progress is a quilt that Jennifer made at a Sit and Sew workshop at Pincushion, a lovely patchwork shop in Tunbridge Wells. This shop is owned by Jenny Groves-Gidney who was our guest speaker this month (see the News page).

Although our April meeting was about the business of the AGM, members still brought in lovely pieces to the Show .n Tell.
Wendy made this beautiful Easter wreath with her granddaughter. It is created by tying stuffed pillows to a central ring - a great way to use up some scraps.
This is the front and reverse of a very useful pouch for holding project work, created by Karen.
Chris showed a couple of brilliant Linus quilts suitable for boys. The left and centre pictures are the front and reverse of one, and the right hand picture is another which finally uses up all the Star Wars fabric that she bought specifically for this purpose.
Here is the front and detail of a gorgeous quilt that Diane made for her new granddaughter, who arrived just a few days ago.
And this is another offering from Diane, a scrappy quilt that she is considering for a future group project.

At February's meeting, the following pieces were displayed......
Wendy showed us this beautiful Christmas wall hanging. Sadly her daughter-in-law passed away a few months ago and her young granddaughter was not looking forward to her first Christmas without her mother. So Wendy decided to create this piece with her granddaughter to help her grieve and hopefully instill some of the Christmas spirit.
Chris always has something delightful to show, all using fabrics from Mags.
Three more incubator quilts (the one on the right is still a work in progress).
....and this girl's quilt.
In addition to the many Linus quilts that the group has provided to the ICU at Kings College Hospital, a particular request has been received for quilts suitable for boys in the 8 - 14 age range, Norma passed on this request to the members and they responded well (as always). Some ladies picked suitable pieces out of their stash and others created quilts in time to donate at the meeting.
Three lovely quilts from Diane.
The incubator bug is catching! This quilt was made by Christine to be donated to Kings along with those above from Chris.
And even our newest recruit, Bryony, stepped up to the plate and created this excellent quilt from animal fabrics she had to hand.
Jennifer showed this quilt that she made at a Regan workshop that Mags and Carol ran.
